The greatest miracle is not raising the dead, but rather, it is feeding the hungry!
The greatest miracle is not raising the dead, but rather, it is feeding the hungry!
Mommy, I'm Hungry!!!
Do you know how many mothers hear that as they tuck their son or daughter into bed at night? Too many! And I hear mothers tell me this every week. And I see their tears as they tell me.
Most food banks and food pantries measure what they do by telling you how many meals they serve and how many pounds of food they hand out. Not Orthodox Workers!
Our goal is simple. That one mother never hears those words again! One mother and her one child!
You can help make a difference in that one mother's and her child. You can help make sure she never hears those words again. But your unceasing prayers and continued support are needed.
The Monastery of the Holy Martyrs and Orthodox Workers serve the disenfranchised and marginalized, homeless and near homeless, unseen, unheard, and unwanted. The poorest of the poor.
We are able to do this because of your mighty unceasing prayers and continued support. Those prayers and that support are needed now.
Please consider even a small gift today. You will be giving the gift of hope and the gift of warmth. You will be making a difference in someone's life.
Our amazing team of regulars and part-time volunteers are committed to helping others. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Think you would be a good fit? Get in touch for more information!
Orthodox Workers live a simple lifestyle in the community, serve the poor, and resist social injustice. Most are grounded in the Gospel, prayer, and the Orthodox faith, although some houses may be interfaith. Many Orthodox Worker houses are dependancies of the Monastery of the Holy Martyrs.
Income for Orthodox Worker houses can come from outside jobs held by members or by cottage industries developed by the community, but most houses survive on donations. Every Orthodox Worker house can use donations of money and/or specific items like food, clothing, etc...Most can also use volunteers from the surrounding community to help with the work. If you feel called to do something about poverty and homelessness in your community, your local Orthodox Worker house would be a great place to start.
It is not just food that we take to folks that help, that makes a difference, that brings hope. Many times elderly and disabled in their apartment are waiting to talk to us. Our listening is what they look forward to.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission. We are a 502(c)(3) IRS-approved charity.
